Cameron Highland - Nov 2011

I used to take all my off days to back to my hometown, Penang to visit my parents, simply I want to spend more time with them. It has been a long time I din't go for a holiday with friends. Initially, our plan is to go holiday at Bangkok, unfortunately last minutes we has cancelled the trip due to the big flood in Bangkok and the airport stop its operation. Lastly, we changed our plan to Cameron Highlands.

Cameron Highlands, here I come after 5 years. We reached Tanah Rata at about 8.30pm, the weather is cool. Its raining outside. We are so happy after the 6 hours drive from Johore Bahru, the first thought is to have our dinner. The famous local food is steamboat. We can see the Steamboat Restorant is everywhere. We decided to go in a Steamboat restorant. I felt myself so warm to have a hot steamboat in this cool weather. Wow, I love this and enjoy it. I believe there is no other place can have this kind of joy in Malaysia. The steamboat includes 9 types of vegetables, some chickens, egg, fishballs and prawns. What I can say it's more likely a 'vegetable steamboat'.
This British's style building and the humid and cold weather has made Cameron Hgihlands an unique place to attract locals and foreigners.

No trip to Cameron Highlands is complete without a trip to the tea plantations. The must see place- Tea Plantation.
Sungai Palas Tea Estate. Located on a hilltop, amidst rows of tea bushes and close to Gunung Brinchang, it offers the best possible introduction to Malaysian teas in a truly spectacular setting.

Feeling the nature..

BOH Tea Factory- It's open for visitors.

The village for the plantation's labours. Mostly are Indian and it has a Tamil school and Kuil.

After a tired walk, it's tea time! A cup of BOH tea and a slice of cake or a puff with hill slope view, it's a perfect tea time ever!

Strawberry farms can be found almost everywhere in Cameron Highlands. All offer locally grown strawberries and home made strawberry jams and a very cheap price. Some strawberry farms will let you pluck your own strawberries and charge you according to the weight. The strawberry here is fresh and sweet!

Strawberry topping with cream. Sweet in love!

There are also few tourist spots other than tea plantation and strawberry farm. The locals income come from various plantation activities such as vegetables, tomatos, flowers, cactus, bees and etc.

The common flowers grown here are roses, carnations, chrysanthemum, dalia, geranium, fuschia and gladioli. You can buy cheap flowers at these nurseries or any market around the highland.

At Bee Farm

This main day market is located around Kea Farm but you can also find many of them all along the main road from Ringlet to Kg.Raja. Here  is where you can find all the produce of Cameron Highlands sold in one place. You can get everything cheap here if you know how to bargain.

Cameron Highlands, a place that worth to have a breakaway, soak in the fresh air with simple life..
